Privacy Policy
The short version
Yumly AI was designed so that we never need to know who you are. The app requires no account, contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs, and no trackers. Your cookbook — recipes, photos, categories, labels, tags, nutrition values and settings — is stored in a local database on your device.
Data we do not collect
- No name, email address, or account credentials — there is nothing to sign up for.
- No usage analytics, device fingerprinting, or advertising identifiers.
- No location data.
- No payment details — purchases are processed entirely by Apple.
Your cookbook stays on your device
All recipe data is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad. Browsing, searching, filtering, editing, scaling servings and exporting work entirely offline. If you delete the app, the local data is deleted with it (your own backups remain in your iCloud Drive, see below).
AI features
Some features use AI processing over a secure connection, and only when you actively choose to run them: scanning a recipe from camera, photos or PDF, importing from a URL, generating meal suggestions, and finding a cover photo.
- Only the content needed for that single request (for example, the photo of the recipe page or the page text of the URL you pasted) is transmitted.
- The request is identified by a random per-device identifier used solely to enforce fair-use daily limits. It is not linked to your identity.
- Your content is processed transiently to produce the recipe result. We do not build profiles from it, and it is not used to train AI models.
Cover photos and attribution
When Yumly AI finds a cover photo for a recipe, the photo is downloaded to your device and the photographer is credited inside the app, as required by the photo's license.
Backups
Optional backups (Premium) are stored as an archive in your own private iCloud Drive, protected by your Apple ID. We have no access to your iCloud and cannot read, restore, or delete your backups.
Purchases
Premium subscriptions are sold as in-app purchases processed by Apple. We receive only an anonymous entitlement status ("is this device Premium?"), never your identity or payment information. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
App Lock
If you enable App Lock, your PIN is stored in the device Keychain and biometric checks (Face ID / Touch ID / Optic ID) are performed by iOS. Biometric data never leaves your device and is never visible to the app.
Recipe sharing
Sharing recipes with nearby devices uses Apple's Multipeer Connectivity directly between devices over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Shared files and texts travel from your device to the recipient — not through our servers.
This website
The yumly-ai.app website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and collects no personal data. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may log standard technical request data (such as IP address) as described in Google's privacy policy.
Children
Yumly AI does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
